Do you look at your to-do list and get excited to add some projects to it and also avoid some of them like the plague?
Have you ever wondered why you procrastinate hard on some tasks and for others you can get done within minutes. Sometimes even much faster than you had carved out time for?
I’m not a neuroscientist and nor do I claim to be. I have studied mine and others’ productivity moments to help build routines that help hold us ourselves accountable, be more efficient and productive. The end result - we feel accomplished and proud of our work and we are able to take on more projects and tasks that get us excited.
Observing our own behavior helps you determine and define your productivity sweet spots.
What is a productivity sweet spot you ask? It’s different moments throughout the day that your mind and body are able to efficiently get through a task, project or assignment. Because of our unique rhythms, every one of us has a different schedule for each of our sweet spots.
With practice and active listening, you can pinpoint when your brain is most active to complete routine tasks versus having a creative spurt. And let’s not forget the times it needs a break from it all before it can continue to be productive and commit to the next task.
Recognizing the unique differences in your productivity sweet spots is a game changer - not only for efficiency but for your confidence. When you find yourself in a moment of procrastination or creative / intellectual exhaustion, you can get stuck in a story of shame or pressure. This isn’t kind to yourself or anyone around you. Start tuning in with your own rhythms and you will find yourself in big waves of momentum, save time and create space for more projects that excite you!
